Thank You and Goodbye, Mr McGrath

On 19th December 2024, we said goodbye to our Headteacher Mr McGrath as he left on his next big adventure.
Mr McGrath has been part of Malin Bridge life for 15 years, 12 of which he served as Head of School or Headteacher. During this time, Mr McGrath took an under-subscribed and low reputation school, added his own brand of leadership, humour and ambition and turned it into a twice-outstanding rated place to learn, work and thrive.
Mr McGrath's final week was packed with exciting challenges designed by the pupils and staff, celebrations and poignant goodbyes, the most moving of which was a surprise guard of honour formed by parents, carers, pupils and staff on his last morning. Amongst the many messages of thanks and support from parents and carers and other members of the community, Mr McGrath was gifted a personalised artwork by parents which we are told will take pride of place over his next desk.
Mr McGrath credits his success, in part, to the support of the local community and school staff especially his deputy, Mr Hague, who will be stepping in as Acting Head until September when a permanent Headteacher will be announced. The school could not be in better hands as Mr Hague has been instrumental in the school's many successes and has worked closely with Mr McGrath in realising a vision for a successful future for Malin Bridge Primary School.
We wish Mr McGrath all the best for his future endeavours and thank him for his dedication to Malin Bridge Primary School over the years and we wish a warm welcome to Mr Hague in his new role as acting Head. We're excited to see what you have in store for us!
