A high quality music curriculum will give children an understanding and appreciation of the wide variety of music made around the world, and the cultures and meanings that created it. Our music curriculum gives students the chance to play a variety of pitched and percussive instruments and learn melodies, harmonies and rhythms from different continents and eras. Our aim is for all pupils to become confident performers, composers and listeners.

Intent

A curriculum that provides pupils with the opportunity to develop musical skills and knowledge. Pupils will develop the creativity and confidence to compose their own music and lyrics. They will develop their accuracy and precision when playing instruments so they can perform solo or as a group. Pupils will know about a wide range of genres from different geographical regions, from the present and the past. They will understand the way that music changes over time and as people have migrated around the world.
